If I ran the NFL, Meriweather would get about a $50k fine - $15k on Lacy, $35k for Starks - and a 1 game suspension. The suspension would be a new policy: make a player lose games with an illegal hit, you lose the same number of games.
Eh, you can't do the "equivalent games" suspension argument. If a star player knocks out a 3rd stringer, the injured team could get strategic and hold him out for weeks to damage the offending team.

I don't want to put words in ML's mouth, but I think he was referring to knocking a player out the way Merriweather did, launching and using the crown of his helmut.

I completely agree and stated Merriweather should get a game suspension when it happened. Aikman alluded to this concussion might end Merriweather's season due to prior concussion issues.
