The OFFICIAL Packers v Bills Game Day Thread
« on: December 10, 2014, 09:21:25 AM »
Another game, another challenge. This one away from the friendly confines of Lambeau, and onto the hostile environment of Buffalo. Weather shoudn't be a factor, but the Bills defense might- they'll be a challenge for the Packers OL, since they've racked up the most sacks this year. But offensively, they simply can't match up against the Packers. This will also be the game where we'll get a better idea of the status of the defense. Was the last 30 minutes against Atlanta a prediction of things to come, or an aberration, due to extenuating circumstances? We'll see.

A rough game, and a nice tune-up for dealing with the Seahawks. Football Outsiders says the Detroit and Buffalo defenses are #1 and #2; Seattle is #4. If we can put up 20-something on Buffalo on the road, we'll likely win the game and can feel good about putting up 20-something on Detroit and Seattle.

Packers have never won in Buffalo, 0-5 all time.

2010 season, Packers had not won in Philly since 1962 and they took care of that (twice) in 2010.  Would be great if Packers can check this box off at Buffalo as well.

Will be tough game, personally I think it is the most difficult game remaining since it is on the road.

I like where this game falls. A late season chance to see how far this team has advanced against beating a great front four. I've had this game circled since before mid season. This is a true test against a premiere defense on the road.

The Buffalo defense is as good as they get and very similar to what Detroit will present in week 17. It will be a tough match up, I think.

Lots of interesting elements and questions to this game. I can't believe it's already week 15. I'm going with a 23-21 Packers win.

Mario Williams was out sick today for Bills, same with their tackle Hairston. They also be out a safety who was injured last week (hamstring).

Kyle Orton is Bills QB, he beat Packers with KC back in 2011.

Bills OL is one of the worst in the league with both pass and run blocking.  Good game for Packers pass rush to show up again.

I concur that this is a tough road game, but think it is one that the Packers should prevail over a stout defensive squad in Buffalo

Points per game
~ Packers are 1st in the NFL with 32.5 points per game
~ Buffalo is tied for 18th with 21.6 points per game

Points allowed per game
~ Packers are 18th surrendering 23.4 point per game
~ Buffalo is tied for 4th surrendering 18.5 point per game

Total offense (yards per game)
~ Packers are 6th in the NFL with 387.5 yards per game
~ Buffalo is 22nd in the NFL with 327.2 yards per game

Total defense (yards allowed per game)
~ Packers are 26th giving up 374.4 yards per game.
~ Buffalo is Fifth, giving up 311.9 yards per game

Turnover differential
 ~ Packers are  1st, with a plus-16 TO ratio
~ Buffalo is Tied for 5th  with a plus-9 ratio
The Green Bay Packers never lost a football game.
They just ran out of time.

This reminds me of the Chiefs game in 2011. Except Buffalo is better. Bahktiari better play better than he did vs atlanta or Rodgers is gonna take a pounding.

Started the season against some good defenses, and going to finish against two very good ones in Buffalo, and Detroit. A great measuring stick for this offensive line who I feel has come a long way this season. That being said I feel all eyes will be on the defense to put up a better effort, especially in the secondary. Whatever you feel about what the game plan was against Atlanta, the results were just horrible. Miscues, and out of position constantly. Granted this won't be Matt Ryan, and his weapons, but I want to see better effort, and results.

I agree.

Looking at the Bills line up, their defense looks really good.  Especially that front four.  I mean, its up there with the Rams I think.

Their linebackers and secondary are not quite that good, but they are good.

On offense, they have two good WR in Woods and Watkins.  They have an average TE in Chandler.  Jackson is an above average plugger at RB  (thank God Spiller is not in there.)

Their OL is respectable, but I think Cordy GLenn is out of position at LT.  The guy is so huge he should be at RT or inside.  IF they got a really good LT and could move him, they would improve at two spots.

Kyle Orton is a decent average QB.  When he gets hot, he is better than that.  Let us hope he does not. If he does not then I think we escape with a win.

A stout defense for sure, even WITHOUT Kiko Alonso, who blew his knee out during training camp. The kid a baller!

This game sounds like a chance to see how the Packers would match up with Seattle in Seattle. Not exactly the same- but similar: very good defense, an offense that can play well enough to put up some points, and a very hostile atmosphere. Now, again, this is not to write that Seattle and Buffalo are equals- they'e not- but there are some similarities, and seeing how the Packers react to this challenge could be instructive.
