The OFFICIAL Packers vs Cardinals Playoff Game Day Thread
« on: January 13, 2016, 12:43:37 PM »
"It's deja vu all over again".

Seems like we just did this a couple of weeks ago, with some rather depressing results. The win Sunday over Washington was a morale booster, but hardly a strong predictor of the future. The Cardinals, man for man, are the best team in the league- on paper. But look at what happened- Arizona dominates the Packers, then the next week, Seattle dominates the Cards. So, will this be a repeat of the regular season? Nope. Instead, I expect a closer game, and hope the Packers prevail. That is my heart. My mind, though, tells me this is the end of the road. I'm just hopeful the game is as entertaining as the 2009 playoff matchup. Though I would love to have some "just desserts in the desert".

Any given Sunday. There is reason to hope for the best before any game. That being said, the honey badger, Okafor, and Redding are all out for the Cards defense. I have been a Packer fan my whole life, but spent 12 years in AZ. This one hopefully wont sting so bad if we can not pull it off.

...the honey badger, Okafor, and Redding are all out for the Cards defense....

Thanks, interesting.  Not sure how much drop-off there is to their "next-man-up" guys.  But perhaps if they're got some vulnerabilities, and if our o-line is stronger, it could be a different offense/defense matchup.

The left-tackle business for the packers last time was bad.  But as I recall it was when Josh Walker had to also come in that really got totally hopeless.

You'd think Arizona could have some vulnerability over the middle.  Kind of unfortunate that Rodgers generally avoids throwing in that part of the field, so might be hard to take best advantage.

Shields traveled...While it doesn't mean he's playing, I think this is great news - I would be surprised to hear you're allowed to travel to games while in the protocol...I could be wrong?

My hope is this was McCarthy being coy and keeping ARI guessing yesterday (are they required to say they're out of the protocol?).  As one of the beat writers suggested, the DB call-up from the PS was likely because McCarthy doesn't want either Shields or Rollins playing ST this week.

I'm cautiously optimistic and feel like we're playing on house money at this point after how poorly the last 2 months have gone.  Lessgo!

We must have a solid first quarter and not let them get off to a early lead. If we can do that we can make it a game throughout I believe. If we win the toss we need to take the ball and do something with it. Deferring and getting scored on would be trouble.

Mark Murphy said something this morning like "Glad to have Shields back" or something of the sort that hinted Shields  would play.  We'll see.

Last night I dreamt that the Packers lost and Rodgers went 5 of 15 passing  but it turned out the game was against the Titans! Then we played again and this time won 12-3 on a late Jeff Janis touchdown in the deep left corner of the end zone. And then later on, we played again but during the second quarter I got stuck running around my hometown trying to find a TV to watch it on.

I don't know what any of this portends, but I am about ready for this game to begin.

Wasn't wearing my reading glasses ... thanks for the correction.

I have only watch one Cardinals game all year and that was the Packer beat down game.  Looking at those stats, they have some really talented WRs.

The point is they sure do have a lot of weapons on offense.

Has there been any final word on Shields, Rollins + Bak?
Last I had Rollins and Bak were expected to start/play.

Watching the KC NE game. I with the Packers could go to that style of the west coast offense that KC runs
