Pick #175 - From Broncos - DeAngelo Yancey, WR, Purdue
« on: March 20, 2017, 02:51:47 PM »

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-1.5 / 215 | 40: 4.55 | DRAFT YR:2017

Bio:
Three-year starter named Second Team All-Big Ten after ranking third in the conference with 10 touchdowns and fourth with 951 receiving yards on 49 catches. Made 48 receptions for 700 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. Had 44 catches for 713 yards and five scores in his first two seasons at Purdue.

Positives:
Underrated receiver who displayed consistent progress in his game. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage, fights with his hands to separate from defenders and sells routes. Nice-sized target who plays with body control and effectively uses the sidelines. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, displays solid hand-eye coordination and contorts and looks the ball into his hands. Makes the tough catch in a crowd, turns upfield and works to pick up positive yardage running after the catch. Plays faster than his 40 time.

Negatives:
More of a one-speed receiver that cannot run to the deep throw. Average quickness in his game. Moderate production.

Analysis:
Yancey is a developing receiver that was one of the bright spots during Purdue’s dismal season. He looked terrific during Shrine Game practice and has set himself up as a potential late-round selection who could lineup as a fifth receiver on Sundays.

Kid just reminds me of James Jones.  Think he is in that mold.

He's got the size but I think Jones was a much more polished WR.  Yancey's routing running is going to be a big time work in progress.  If he makes the roster, I think he's going to make his money with vertical routes.  James Jones was a much better route runner coming out of college IMO.
Act your age, not your shoe size.
