Chad Rueter NFL.com 6 round mock draft updated
« on: April 17, 2017, 02:35:02 PM »
1. Chibode Awuzie, CB, Colorado
2. DeMarcus Walker, DE, FSU
3. Shaquill Griffin, CB, UCF
4. Sean Harlow, G, Oregon State
5. Joe Williams, RB, UTAH
5.Samson Ebukam, OLB Eastern Washington
6. Robert Davis WR Georgia State

Really, really like this draft.  While I'm not in love with the round 2 and 3 pick, I rally like the rest.

Given what was available in the first, I like the Awuzie pick.  I think he's the most complete/ all around CB in this year's draft.  He can play on the outside and in the slot.  He's the best blitzing CB in the draft not named Peppers (if you see him as a CB).  He's a much more athletic version of Hyde who's got great instincts, good tackling ability and versatility.

I like Walker the player but I'm not sure he's a good fit for our scheme.  He's like a substantially less athletic version of Nick Perry, who took 4 years to develop into a starter.  I'd have preferred Tyrus Bowser at that #61 spot.

Really like the last 4 picks.  Harlow is the do everything type that Thompson loves on his line.  He practiced at every position and played LT at en elite level in the PAC12.  Williams isn't my favorite back in this year's class but that would be tremendous value in the 5th.  Ebukam is a relatively unknown prospect but he brings great athletism to the edge.  He's got great burst off the LOS and tremendous ability to bend which are vital pass rushing traits you simply can't teach.  Robert Davis is a big, strong, long, fast WR.  He's a Jeff Janis type of athletic prospect but he's substantially further along as a WR.

I think Walker could fill the vacant "elephant" role for the Packers, even though he's not as tall as you would like for the position.
Griffin could be groomed for a boundary CB position and Awuzie could play any of the spots.
Williams has the home run speed GB lacks at RB.
I've been touted Davis for several weeks. I wonder if he's ever returned kicks? (Imagine Cordarelle Patterson)

I like this draft as much as any I have seen so far.

Thanks for posting it.

Take Walker away and I think it's a good draft. I don't see him as a OLB for the Packers or any 3-4 team.

I wish a bigger investment would be made in CB, but overall I like the draft.  I like doubling down on OLBs early.  I also don't mind the Foreman selection as he's one of the most athletic RBs ever to come into the NFL at his size.  Glad he kept with the Harlow and Davis selections.  Not a big fan of either of the 5th round selections.

I've got an idea......
Trade up to the top of Round 2 and nail Mixon.
He just jumps off the screen. AR would make him a star and we'd be unstoppable on offense.

Agree 100%. He's, big, athletic, great vision, and he can catch.  He's too talented to pass up (of course going against the embarassing Big 12 defenses helps). I wouldn't want to give up any 2017 picks to do it however.

You have an unhealthy obsession.  You also managed to find a way I'd hate Ted even more.
