The Packers also have released CB LaDarius Gunter. That's the official move to make room for Geronimo Allison. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-40001449-4

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem.

I wonder if somebody is coming up from practice squad to avoid being signed by another team?  Clark? Callahan?

Ricky Jean Francois move is not on today's NFL transaction wire. The Gunther release is the official move to make room for Allison. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-40001449-4

Agreed...  I liked Gunter better. Maybe coaches see more upside in Pipkins.

I get the confusion over Gunter, given that he brings at least a base level of competence, but am I the only one who isn't at all surprised that Pipkins is still on the roster? I thought he might have been the best of the second half cornerback group in the preseason, and the Packers have never been shy about keeping UDFA DBs.

Conspiracy Theory,

It would be kind of funny if the Packers leaked they were releasing RJF to try and close a deal to trade Gunter. If true, it failed.

Hate to see competent backup players released - especially with House being a 1 year rental and Randall already dinged up.

I am dying to see how this plays out- Packersnews.com is currently saying both are released.  I would love to know what/who the source is on RJF.

Could they be trying to sign Datone Jones?  I doubt it, but I am finding the reporting on this confusing.  I am trying to assess the possibilities.

The more I think about it, I think they will sign a OT as insurance because both Bulaga and Spriggs could miss more time. Could be a 'this week only' need.

Well so much for my thinking protecting DB depth over RJF was the smart move......oh well.

He's going to get signed and someone is going to get a pretty good CB.  He was BY FAR our best CB last year.  He got the brunt of the blame for the bad secondary oil the playoffs when the reality is no CB is going to have consistent success when your pass rush is giving your opponents QB an eternity to throw the ball.

To me, it will be surprising if Gunter is not claimed tomorrow. Just hoping it is not in the division. The Vikings would have no need, but the Lions could certainly use him. Not sure on the Bears depth at CB. Eagles might be a player for him also, they lost Darby already.
