Packers to draft two RB's in this years draft
« on: March 07, 2017, 09:29:57 AM »
I was reading this in Bleacher Report and thinking hmmmmm ok. Does anyone believe this is true and if so who are the RB's you think or hope they will select and does this mean Lacy is gone?!!

I assume they think Lacy will be gone. I disagree, so one pick in rounds 4/5 is my guess. they could get a veteran, but that would be unlikely.

I'll go under the assumption of going along with this. I'd like to see someone like McNickol from Boise and later on Kazeem Hunt. I will say I don't think this will happen, but those are two RB's I like.

I met Kareem not Kazeem Hunt from Toledo.

I think it was a typo in the original article- Taking two CB's I understand- taking 2RB I don't.

Supposedly that's what Wisky RB Corey Clement was told by a Packers scout.

I think it was Bleacher Report that said the Packers would draft a OG in the first round from Western Kentucky.

According to Clement's version the scout told him they "might" draft two RB's -- not that they "would" draft two RB's.  Those little distinctions often get lost on some

I doubt it.

2 CBs - I would bet on it
2 OLBs - I'd take this bet too
2 -TEs - likely
1 - G
1 - WR

And that concludes our draft folks. You read it hear first.

Add Dom Capers and you just might have a top 30 defense.

I doubt it.

2 CBs - I would bet on it (Not if House get's signed)
2 OLBs - I'd take this bet too (Totally agree, plus a 3rd as an UDFA)
2 -TEs - likely (Only if the don't extend Cook. They like Beau Sandland, so most likely only one TE)
1 - G (Agree, especially if Lang is left to walk. Still hoping he doesn't)
1 - WR (Marginal chance it's a draft pick. There were 18 WO's at the Combine who ran sub-4.5 40's. Plus there's a lot of WO's who weren't even invited to the combine........if you catch my drift. The Packers already have a lot of depth/talent at the position to push WO into the UDFA category this year)

By my count there could be two, and maybe three, picks in play for RB's. I'd like to see two draft picks and an UDFA. With as deep as the RB class is this year, they could land a better one than either Crockett or Jackson as an UDFA.

And that concludes our draft folks. You read it hear first.

Why use a pick on another QB?

I think TT will sign a RB, just not in the first three rounds. Unless the kid from LSU drops to the Packers...TT goes defense.

There are some very strange thought running around my head lately. First, signing AP. The guy has some heavy baggage, and of course he was released from an insane contract, but for the right money and an incentive laden contract, why not give him the chance to "pull a Favre" and stick it to Minny? He'd be facing his old team twice behind a very good OL, and a top notch offense that could make good use of him. I would expect him to have some unproductive games early on as he learns the offense and gets back into football shape, but if (a very, very big "IF") he could return to his old form later in the season, he would be invaluable in taking pressure off of Rodgers and giving balance to the offense. Is this a high risk move? Absolutely. But isn't that what some on here are asking for?

Meanwhile, while I'm getting crazy, how about drafting Joe Mixon in round three if he's available. Or even trading up to draft him if necessary. Yes, I saw the video, and in no way condone his actions. However, this kid has skills that could translate to the NFL in a big way, and give the Packers the depth at RB they haven't had in years.

Now, these are definitely "outside the box" thoughts. They are not trolling, but meant to generate genuine discussion. Don't like either idea? Fine. This is not a crusade or a call for action, just some thoughts that were rattling around, and I thought I'd toss them out there for consideration.
